"Supercharged" by Dave Norona.

Early Saturday morning my girlfriend Kim and I loaded our little X3 and cruised up to Big White Resort just outside Kelowna.

This awesome resort is one of our favourite secret getaway spots where we can relax, sip red wine and ski powder all day long.

By mid-afternoon we arrived at Trapper's Crossing, which would be our home for the next few days. It was dumping snow outside and we wasted no time in jumping into our balcony hot tub to try and catch those little crystals. Oh, yeah!

The quiet serenity of Big White is what separates it from other resorts. You can party all night long or sit back and revel in your day of endless powder runs.

By morning we awoke to 14 centimetres of fresh light snow and after a quick breakfast we were out the door and off to ride the Snow Ghost Express - Canada's largest six-person ski lift. This chair was installed during the summer to help get more skiers up the hill faster and it does a great job at that. A few minutes later we were shredding the steep slopes of Paradise, Exhibition and Perfection, all of which had been groomed with the fresh new snow atop it.

After these warm-up speed runs we traversed over to the Black Forest - a gladed area perfect for a powder day. Skiing through the trees is my personal favourite and Big White has done an amazing job at glading the right amount of trees but leaving in all the big rocks and drop-offs, which become natural terrain hits where you can get some serious air. If you're a snowboarder you will LOVE this area.

The storm didn't stop all day, so each run was filled with epic snow. In fact, there is no way that we could possibly ski out this resort in one day, even though it was the weekend and we did not stand in a single lift line all day. I love the interior!

After a wicked day we revitalized ourselves with beer and nachos over at Snowshoe Sam's Pub before heading down to the Mega Snow Coaster. Kim and I were introduced to this crazy tube park - the largest in North America - a few years ago and at first glance were scared like a couple of kindergarteners. However, after your initial run you can't help but want more of the euphoric feeling that comes with flying down an icy slope on the back of an inflatable tube.

We love to cook and all the units have kitchenettes, which allow you to keep your costs down, but as a special treat we hit the fancy Kettle Valley Steakhouse for some amazing seafood and steaks before ending our evening with a romantic walk through the snowy village. Then it was off to sleep and get ready to do it all over again.

Big White is getting all fired up for the holiday season and soon Santa will be arriving and the village parades and family parties will start. If you're looking for the best family winter holiday vacation then look no further than Big White.

I know where I will be this holiday season - do you? Go to www.bigwhite.com or call 1-800-663-2772 for more information
